Trailcam Mock-Scrape Buck
12/07/2005
Photo 1
After deciding to make a mock scrape in one of our
suburban area hunting spots, I put the trail cam where it
could get a clear view of anything that came by to
check it out. 12 hours later while I was home sleeping,
this buck came in to check things out. Hopefully, with
a little luck, the next photo of this buck will be
with a hunter behind him.

It was my 8 yr old son, he
was persistent enough to
convince me to let him try
out the .243 and he did very
well shooting it at 65
yards. I have also placed a
short video clip in the
hunting clips section.
Larry 'The Cameraman' has
Success in Front of the
Camera in IL

The first 3 days were pretty
much the same. Some good
activity in the mornings and
late mornings, with little
movement in mid day and
evenings. The second morning
was the best of the three.
We had a buck decoy out in a
fescue filter strip in front
of us, with strips of timber
on three sides of us. Two
nice bucks came in to the
decoy. The first followed a
doe out into the field, but
couldn't help but leave her
to come over and try to
intimidate the decoy. Ears
back, hair on end...the
whole deal was awesome.

Early Nov in North MO
Larry and I spent 4 days in
North MO, beginning on Nov
4th, while Keith and Eric
came up for the 5th and 6th.
Temps were on the warm side,
keeping deer movement rather
low. This hunt did
demonstrate the variability
of rut associated movement
though. While Larry and I
saw some rut activity each
morning, Keith and Eric saw
hardly any activity from
their stands, only 3/4 mile
away in the same river
bottom.

Kristen Makes it an
Aim Low Triple-Play for
Halloween Weekend!
Photo 1
Wow, what a weekend for Aim
Low topped off by Kristen's
last minute doe taken the
last evening of the Missouri
Youth Season. Because she
has taken 3 bucks in the
last few years, she decided
to shoot a doe, or wait for
a "bigger" buck. She held to
that early the first morning
and let a basket rack buck
go by.

A Little Herd
Management
Photo 1
Cool temperatures and
favorable wind conditions
got us excited about one of
our new urban hunting spots.
The deer were really moving
and the landowner had just
got done begging us to put a
dent in the deer population
if at all possible. At 4:20
I arrowed my doe and within
30 minutes and just 150 yds
up the same ridge, Robin
took his 3rd doe of the
season. Man, those Muzzys
are devastating!! These were
no monsters by any stretch,
but it sure made the land
owner happy. I finally get
to try out the new grill!
Early season IL hunt -
Robin breaks out of his
slump

Three of us headed to IL
this past weekend for some
early hunting and stand set
ups for the rut. We hoped to
at least fill some doe tags
and maybe see a nice buck or
two.

Robin Hunts Antelope
in MT with Milk River
Outfitters
I had the chance to purchase
an antelope hunt with Milk
River Outfitters at a
charity auction last winter.
I have always hoped to hunt
antelope and this was too
good of a deal to pass up.
Steve Jones would go along
on this one since the hunt
would coincide with the
start up of a new school
year for Keith.
The hunt was originally
scheduled for mid-August
hunting over water holes.
Wet weather caused us to
change the dates and methods
to hunting with a decoy.
Even better!

Fall Bear Hunt From
Hell
Well...the first hunt of the
fall has come and went. This
trip can only be described
as the hunt from hell!
The hunt was in MN and we
were guests of Renegade
Archery owner Bill Herrmann.
He has a fantastic little
cabin on the MN/WI border
and had several baits that
were getting hit. I should
start off saying that
regardless of the bad luck I
am going to describe, we owe
Bill a huge THANK YOU for
all his help. We also got to
tour the Renegade factory,
which was very cool.

Eric Gregory Scores in
Ontario-Black Bear
Photo

Team member Eric Gregory
headed to Canada to start
his fall bowhunting off
right. This black bear is a
pending P&Y trophy. Not bad
for his first bear! Eric put
a perfect double lung shot
on this big bear just hours
into the first night of his
hunt.

Bow & Double Bull blind
What a great trip!
Bowhunters Paradise Ranch
proved to be more than what
we had imagined. Although
the hogs did not cooperate,
we had 3.5 days full of
excitement hunting leary and
precautious rams. Robin and
I had a chance to hunt the
rams by stalking (which
nearly produced a very large
horned Black Hawaiin for
Robin), and from ground
blinds. I was lucky enough
to take the above pictured
Texas Dall from a Double
Bull while cameraman Jeff
Smith captured all of the
excitement on film. We look
forward to sharing the
adventure on an upcoming
video. The Aim Low crew
would like to thank Jim
Tichenell and family for
unbelievable hospitality and
tremendous vittels. We can't
wait to book our next trip
to Bowhunters Paradise.
Robin and I also appreciate
the efforts and dedication
fom cameramen Larry
Prevallet and Jeff Smith for
giving up their time and
lots of sleep to make the
trip possible.
